In the past, apprentices would immediately start working in print production settings. However, because they were inevitably lacking basic knowledge and skills it always took some time before they could work together with experienced machine operators,\u201d says Michael Limmer, who heads the training shop. That\u2019s why in the flexographic printing area the company opted for a brand-new Gallus Labelmaster 440. This printing system is a machine type designed for the label and packaging market. The new high-tech printing machine for rookies has many advantages. Michael Limmer: \u201cWith a new machine in the training shop, we boost the motivation of our apprentices. Plus, in their second year, they\u2019ll immediately be able to participate in the production work instead of just watching. That\u2019s motivating as well.\u201d For their experienced colleagues on the factory floor, it\u2019s helpful when apprentices join them with a certain amount of know-how.\u201d Schreiner Group attaches great value to high-quality training beyond those aspects as well. A high proportion of the apprentices are subsequently retained by the company for regular employment.
