Now the experts have designed something for themselves\u2014of which customers of course are ultimately going to benefit. The team has had a small specialized helper since this year: 3DM, a fully automated 3D measuring robot assists the developers in measuring the radiation pattern of RFID inlays.<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;25px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text]There\u2019s a little bit of jerking at the beginning but then the measuring robot\u2019s arm starts moving smoothly and, following a defined route, keeps sweeping across the RFID chip placed on a rotary plate. All that is happening in a nearly silent and highly precise way. \u201cThe robot\u2019s arm doesn\u2019t get tired while making measurements,\u201d project leader Dirk Probian, Senior Development Manager at Schreiner LogiData,\u201d comments on the process with a smile. And that exactly was the objective of developing 3DM\u2014obtaining reproducible, valid measurement results.<\/p>\n<p>The basic idea,\u201d says team leader Hartmut Wiederrecht, \u201cwas for us to obtain an auto\u00admated 360-degree view of RFID performance because radiation varies, depending on the direction of the measurement.\u201d \u201cUsing the measuring robot, we always have the same angle, always the same gap, and as a result, can find out at which point and in which direction the inlay delivers the highest per\u00adformance,\u201d adds Dirk Probian. That\u2019s a key quality characteristic because it\u2019s the only way for the customer to know where the RFID label must be placed for optimal reading.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;15px&#8221;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;12393&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; onclick=&#8221;link_image&#8221; css_animation=&#8221;fadeIn&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;25px&#8221;][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;To start the new year, 3DM as an official \u201cteam member\u201d will be able to assist the colleagues from Schreiner LogiData&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23c20016&#8243; google_fonts=&#8221;font_family:Lato%3A100%2C100italic%2C300%2C300italic%2Cregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic%2C900%2C900italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal&#8221;][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;25px&#8221;][vc_column_text]3DM owes its existence to the creativity of Schreiner\u2019s experts: \u201cThe desire for reliable measurements was coupled with a sound play instinct. The available, fully automated industrial systems are simply not designed for our scale and that\u2019s why the idea was born to develop one in-house\u2014and the robotic ver\u00adsion was very charming,\u201d says Wiederrecht.<\/p>\n<p>The charming 3DM with a mere size of 30 cm was created in collaboration with a college student. It took about half a year before the system was finished. The special characteris\u00adtic of the automated helper is that the reader functionality was already integrated into the control software. \u201cOf course, there were stages in the development, such as the selec\u00adtion of the stepping motor, that cost time,\u201d explains Dirk Probian. \u201cAfter all, the project was about robotics, inverse kinematics, com\u00adplex matrix calculations\u2014but the outcome is respectable and now state-of-the-art.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the first fully automated measuring robot to have been developed by Schreiner Logi\u00adData. The readings it generates in the RFID laboratory are clearly more precise than those that any employee could deliver with man\u00adual measurements.
