Smart Physical Assets Management Thanks to RFID
The days when people had to crawl under a desk to de-cypher its asset number are history! seventhings, a Saxonybased company whose name was ITEXIA until recently, has developed subscription-based software that manages and localizes objects from a cloud. The service is enabled by RFID labels from Schreiner PrinTrust.
The solution should be easy and intuitive. seventhings’ founders, Steffen Prasse and Patrick Boden, were clear about their objective. Stefan Prasse explains seventhings’ basic idea: “We wanted our solution to help companies reduce the high staffing requirements involved in classic physical counting of assets and avoid redundant purchases with our digital physical assets management.”
That has been achieved: Schreiner PrinTrust delivered some several hundred thousand RFID labels for digital physical assets management in the past two years alone! Users include universities, insurance companies, and chambers of commerce as well as banks and private-sector clients. “The great part about this solution,” says Thomas Okroj from Schreiner PrinTrust, “is that, immediately after the rollout, clients can see that they save time, human resources, and therefore cash with our RFID-based solution.”
The collaboration with seventhings had started on a very small scale. In 2018, the company was looking for RFID labels for a chamber of crafts and trades that resisted the elements and guaranteed good read range even on metal. Nearly 4,000 RFID-DistaFerr labels from Schreiner Group were deployed together with the software from seventhings and provided the basis for perfect collaboration between both companies. “We are a young company and are happy to have an experienced partner in Schreiner Group,” says Patrick Boden. “What unites and drives us is our zest for innovation!”
Speaking of innovation, seventhings has already set its sights on the next goal: The physical asset management platform is intended to become a tool for the circular economy. Its objective is to make it easier for companies to return physical assets to the circular system than to dispose of them. As a result, physical assets not only become smart but are sustainably managed as well. A utopian dream? Far from it! The corresponding labels will, as usual, be supplied from Oberschleissheim at top levels of quality.
