Innovation Award Bavaria for High-Tech Wound Dressing

In the Innovation Award Bavaria competition, Schreiner Group received the Jury’s Special Award for an outstanding and technologically complex product development. Dr. Ulrike Wolf, a senior official at the Bavarian Ministry for Economic Affairs, presented the prestigious accolade for the CPT®patch medical product, also known as “Coldplasmapatch.” It is a high-tech wound treatment dressing based on printed electronics.

With the help of this innovative product, cold plasma is generated that kills multi-resistant bacteria, promotes cell regeneration, and, as a result, can heal chronic wounds—even in cases that used to be regarded as incurable. Schreiner Group achieved this innovative product together with medical device technology company Coldplasmatech.

“Successful Bavarian companies like Schreiner Group develop new products for the markets of the future, acting with boldness and willingness to take risks. Thanks to such engaged high-tech companies the Bavarian economy is a leader in research and development, and shapes the innovation landscape in Germany and all of Europe,” emphasized Bavarian Minister for Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger.

The coldplasmapatch dressing delivers outstanding outcomes—even when applied to wounds that used to be classified as incurable under conventional therapies The technology is based on findings in plasma physics, achieved by using printed electronics, and was developed as a project commissioned by and in collaboration with Coldplasmatech GmbH. Due to highly professional manufacturing in a roll-to-roll printing process at Schreiner Group, the product became suitable for the mass market. “Our CPT®patch and the related individual therapy with cold plasma has the potential of sustainably revolutionizing the wound market,” says Dr. Carsten Mahrenholz, founder, and CEO of Coldplasmatech GmbH, the company with which Schreiner Group has partnered.
