High Investment in Training
SCHREINER GROUP
High Investment in Training
High-end training at Schreiner Group is regarded as an important element in enabling young people to successfully start a career while concurrently addressing the issue of skilled worker shortage. For aspiring print technicians, Schreiner Group offers a totally unique opportunity in the industry: In a dedicated training shop, the young people can perform their onboarding activities and individual training steps on a machine of their own. For that purpose, the company invested in a brand-new Gallus Labelmaster 440.
“This setting enhances the way in which learning content can be repeated and intensified. In the past, apprentices would immediately start working in print production settings. However, because they were inevitably lacking basic knowledge and skills it always took some time before they could work together with experienced machine operators,” says Michael Limmer, who heads the training shop. Under his guidance, the budding print technicians are now systematically learning the basics and requisite skills for operating the machines on the factory floor.
With a new machine in the training shop, we boost the motivation of our apprentices.
Schreiner Group’s concept includes using state-of-the art technologies in the training shop instead of old machines. That’s why in the flexographic printing area the company opted for a brand-new Gallus Labelmaster 440. This printing system is a machine type designed for the label and packaging market. The new high-tech printing machine for rookies has many advantages. Michael Limmer: “With a new machine in the training shop, we boost the motivation of our apprentices. Plus, in their second year, they’ll immediately be able to participate in the production work instead of just watching. That’s motivating as well.” For their experienced colleagues on the factory floor, it’s helpful when apprentices join them with a certain amount of know-how.” Schreiner Group attaches great value to high-quality training beyond those aspects as well. A high proportion of the apprentices are subsequently retained by the company for regular employment. During their apprenticeships the young talents receive intensive, personal support, 30 days of leave, and the opportunity to take part in joint apprentice days and company events.
