FINAT Label Competition:
2 Products—3 Awards

For Schreiner Group, the 2023 FINAT Label Competition was a resounding success. In the European label association’s most important awards competition, two products were recognized—with three awards! The judges were particularly impressed by the Film-Based Cover with a pressure compensation seal from Schreiner ProTech enabling easy and space-saving sealing of electronic housings. This product won the overall group award for Innovation & Electronic Printing. In addition, the product was recognized in the subcategory of Innovation & Electronic Printing–Innovation. The Smart Blister Card from Schreiner MediPharm was the winner in the Innovation & Electronic Printing-Electronic Devices subcategory.

The large-scale industry meeting of the European self-adhesive label industry association (FINAT) takes place once a year. It has provided the setting for FINAT to recognize the best and most innovative products for more than 40 years. Over the last decades not only the labels have changed significantly but so have their fields of application and uses. “Printing and labels—that’s a lot more today than it used to be,” says Dr. Jens vor der Brüggen, who in his capacity as head of research and development accepted the awards on behalf of Schreiner Group. “We’re delighted that the industry is also seeing us as an innovation driver.”

The Film-Based Cover from the Schreiner ProTech business unit is used to seal component housings. Unlike a conventional injection-molded cover it entails clearly lower costs, saves space in transportation and installation—and enables weight savings of up to 85 percent. Even so, the film-based solution is stress-resistant and provides a water-tight and dustproof closure. In addition, an integrated pressure compensation seal enables reliable venting of the component. For FINAT, it is an outstanding product—and winner in the overall group of Innovation & Electronic Printing as well as in the Innovation & Electronic Printing-Innovation subcategory.

The Smart Blister Card from the Schreiner MediPharm business unit is a high-tech prodAwardsuct. It extends a standard blister pack by digital adherence monitoring. The Smart Blister Card contains electronic conductive lines. As soon as the patient pushes a tablet out of a cavity, data are generated in real time—such as time of removal, dose, or the specific cavity—and can subsequently be read using a reader or smartphone app. The judges recognized the Smart Blister Card in the Innovation & Electronic Printing-Electronic Devices subcategory for this innovative development.
