Covert Security
SCHREINER MEDIPHARM
Covert Security
Recognized with the FINAT Innovation Award: Schreiner MediPharm has developed a novel security seal for pharmaceutical packaging combining digital authentication with sustainability and reliable first-opening indication. Thus, digital and physical tamper evidence merge into a holistic security concept with true added value for the user.
Rethinking Digital Authentication
Counterfeiting and tampering pose major challenges to the pharmaceutical industry. For more reliable and faster identification of suspicious products on the market, Schreiner MediPharm integrates the digital authentication technology Cryptoglyph® from the Swiss company AlpVision into its new seal solution. This involves printing a unique security feature that’s invisible to the human eye with high precision into the transparent area of the seal. Subsequently, the authenticity of a package can be verified by means of a smartphone app–quickly, easily, and without any further equipment. Photo-based remote verification is possible as well and additionally accelerates an initial evaluation of complaints.
Strong Partnership for More Security
The collaboration combines the expertise of both companies: Schreiner MediPharm contributes its comprehensive consulting and development expertise in functional labels with security features for the healthcare industry, while AlpVision brings its know-how in the area of digital authentication technologies. The result is a highly transparent and sustainable security seal that seamlessly integrates into existing packaging concepts and combines several protective functions in one solution.
Protection Along the Entire Supply Chain
If the seal has been tampered with and supposedly resealed with adhesive tape the digital security feature can no longer be read. As a result, inspectors or distributors, for instance, can verify the authenticity and intactness of the seal via smartphone at any time. Overt security features such as a guilloche, and the unique curved shape of the seal made of sustainable material offer additional protection. The solution meets the requirements of the EU Falsified Medicines Directive and DIN EN 16679:2014 for tamper-proof packaging. For this innovative combination of digital authentication and tamper evidence, Schreiner MediPharm received the prestigious Group Award for Innovation at the FINAT Label Competition 2026.
